יִתְרָא, יִי׳I m. ch. = h. יֶתֶר I, 1, strong cord, esp. 1) the cord of the bow. Snh.42a למיהוי כי י׳ (some ed. יְתֵירָא) until the shape of the moon is like that of the cord (with the bent bow, semicircular).Pl. (יְתֵירֵי) יִתְיֵי. M. Kat. 26a לקל י׳ דמזיגתוכ׳ from the sound of the cords (of the catapults) at M. (v. מְגִיזָה) the wall of Laodicea burst. 2) rope.Pl. יְתָרִין, יְתָרַיָּא. Targ. Jud. 16:7; 8; 9. 3) the straight side of the stomach, opp. to קשתא the curved side, v. הִימְצָא. Ḥull.50a דְּאַיִּיתְרָא the fat covering Pes.51a אכל דאיי׳ (Ms. M. דיי׳) ate the fat Targ.
